MOONSTONE BEACH IN CAMBRIA, BIG SUR, CARMEL/CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA & MONTEREY, CA
5-NIGHT PHOTO FIELD TRIP PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP
FRIDAY OCTOBER 2ND THROUGH WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 7TH, 2020
Join us for our first ever California Coast Photo Field Trip Photography Workshop to Moonstone Beach in Cambria, up the coast through Big Sur and on to Carmel/Carmel-By-The-Sea and Monterey. The month of May has been known to be one of the best times of the year to visit these areas as the hills are usually green with spring flowers blooming and there are typically a good amount of sunny days with lovely sunsets. I would love to share this artistic, creative experience with all of you!
We will begin our journey in Moonstone Beach in Cambria for the first two nights, exploring the sandy beaches and rocky coastline, meandering along the boardwalk and visiting the quaint town of Cambria and Fiscalini Ranch as well as nearby San Simeon and the elephant seals. We will then head north early the next morning to visit McWay Falls in Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park in Big Sur and continue up the coast to enjoy the incredible views of Bixby Creek Bridge and Garrapata State Park. After arriving in Carmel-By-The-Sea and checking into our rooms where we will spend three nights, we will explore the local beaches and coastline, as well as Point Lobos State Natural Reserve, one of the most spectacularly beautiful coastal regions in California. We will explore the Carmel-By-The-Sea and Monterey coastal area along the 17-mile drive where you can find the famous "Lone Cypress at Pebble Beach" as well as many more spectacular photographic opportunities.
We will practice our photography in the early mornings and late afternoons through sunset and will have time during the workshop to practice editing our photographs in Adobe Photoshop & Lightroom Classic CC.
Physical difficulty is moderate as many locations we will be visiting will require hours of standing and hiking on dirt trails and rocky areas. Some locations may be hazardous for those with poor stability or balance.
You are welcome to join us with any type of camera, however, I would recommend bringing a camera with manual setting options like a DSLR, mirrorless or crossover camera. We will practice creatively using our camera settings, different lenses, tripods, wide angle and close-up photography, night photography, as well as exploring composition, lighting and getting tack-sharp images. For smart phone shooters, we will also go over a variety of cool apps to get the best quality photos and videos and make them really pop!
You are welcome to find a carpool buddy who is joining us on the trip or take your own car. Cambria, CA is typically a 4 1/2 to 5 hour drive from Orange County, depending on traffice and where you are leaving from.
Lodging, meals and all other fees and expenses are not included. Please contact me with any questions you may have and regarding hotel reservation options.
This will be an amazing experience you will never forget.
